SUMMARY:Science for the European Water Resilience Strategy: water governance, water scarcity and data-driven management tools
DESCRIPTION:\nHow can scientific evidence help strengthen Europe’s water resilience?\n\n\n\nOn 8 October 2026, a group of EU-funded research and innovation projects working on water resilience and climate adaptation will come together at the House of the Austrian Economy (AT60), ( https://cms.at60.eu/event-and-meeting-spaces/ ) for a policy event focused on the contribution of science to the implementation of the European Water Resilience Strategy and the wider EU water acquis.\n\n\n\nWith the growing momentum around Europe’s water agenda, closing the gap between cutting-edge research and policy implementation is more urgent than ever.\n\n\n\nThe event, led by TRANSCEND ( https://transcendresearchproject.com/ ) and WE-ACT, will also envolve sister projects (invited), including GOVAQUA, InnWater, RETOUCH, AWARD, RECREATE, MARCLAIMED, SOSWATER, STARS4WATER, TALANOA-WATER and ACQUAOUNT, alongside other related initiatives—to showcase concrete research findings, innovative solutions and policy proposals across three key areas:\n\n\n\n\nWater governance – strengthening institutional frameworks, multi-level cooperation and policy coherence, including on issues such as water allocation.\n\n\n\nWater scarcity – exploring innovative policies and solutions for more climate-resilient river basins.\n\n\n\nData-driven management tools – leveraging digital twins, monitoring systems and predictive models to support more informed and actionable decision-making.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will bring together EU policymakers, representatives of European institutions, regional authorities, water basin managers, key sectoral stakeholders, private businesses and researchers for short project pitches, discussion and exchange.\n\n\n\nThe aim is to identify concrete pathways for strengthening the uptake of research and innovation findings in European water policy, while exploring the barriers, opportunities and policy levers that can help turn scientific evidence into action.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nregistration is now open\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event is being developed in collaboration with participating projects. Further details on the programme, speakers and participation will be announced soon.\n\n\n\nMark your calendar! 8 October 2026 | Brussels\n\n\n\n\n
