The 2nd local workshop for the Júcar living lab took place on April 4th at the IIAMA-UPV headquarters in Valencia.
Organized under the collaboration between TRANSCEND and RETOUCH NEXUS European sister projects, the event brought together representatives from the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ), TRAGSA, the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA), environmental organizations and more, to tackle pressing water management challenges in the face of climate and change and water scarcity.
The local team of researchers led a participatory diagnosis of the climate change impacts on the Júcar Basin, including model-predicted effects under current management and adaptation measures. This was followed by a presentation of the system of indicators of the health of the environment and water management.
The objective of the event was to find innovative measures to address the challenges of the Júcar River basin: participants proposed a diverse array of solutions, including innovative water-saving technologies, economic incentives, and stronger policy frameworks, emphasizing the importance of multi-sector collaboration.
