The TRANSCEND project team met in Madrid on September 16-17th for a hands-on, collaborative work session. The key objective was to test and refine the project’s “Scenathons,” a core tool for promoting better water governance.
A “Scenathon,” or “Scenario Marathon,” is a serious game built on real data. It allows stakeholders—from policymakers to local citizens—to simulate the long-term effects of different water management policies and decisions. By exploring future scenarios in an interactive and risk-free environment, participants can better understand complex water systems and work together towards sustainable solutions.
This testing phase in Madrid was a crucial step to ensure the games are robust, engaging, and ready for deployment.
Following the successful session, these Scenathons will now become the centerpiece of the upcoming local workshops planned across the project’s seven Living Labs. This will bring data-driven, participatory decision-making directly to local communities, marking a significant milestone for the TRANSCEND project.
