The celebration of Europe Day was held with great success and high public participation on Monday, May 11, in Heraklion. The event was co-organized by the Region of Crete, Europe Direct Crete, and the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete, successfully bringing European support policies closer to the citizens of the island.
Transcend was at the heart of the informative activities hosted at Georgiadis Park. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the project’s core objectives and interact live with the serious game digital platform.
During the demonstration, citizens “ran” multiple interactive scenarios concerning the region of Tympaki, exploring various socioeconomic and hydrogeological parameters. Public interest was remarkably high, as the platform offers tangible tools for understanding climate change and sustainable development at a local level.
The day featured a rich agenda of activities:
- School Presentations: six Ambassador Schools of the European Parliament presented the results of their projects implemented during the school year.
- Panel Discussion: local government representatives and European program managers discussed the funding tools provided by the E.U.
- Public Awareness: through the creative initiative titled “What is National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), Mom?”, citizens of all ages discovered how European funds actively transform daily life in Crete.
The parallel morning events at Georgiadis Park covered critical sectors such as education, entrepreneurship, climate change, and water resource management, proving that projects like Transcend hold the key to shielding and developing local communities.
