The Nitra Living Lab held its third local workshop in Banská Bystrica on May 14th.
This edition was mainly focused on the serious game, an interactive tool developed by the project consortium to simulate transformational adaptation policies (TAPs) and support decision-making.
The Nitra serious game focused on water retention and its impacts on environmental flows, which were among the TAPs identified in the previous workshops. The performance of these TAPs was evaluated under three climate change scenarios – trend (average) scenario RCP 2.6, extremely dry scenario RCP 8.5, extremely wet RCP 8.5 – and two land use scenarios – more agricultural land or more natural land.
The initial feedback received from stakeholder was positive, stating the potential of the game to support understanding of complex system interactions and to explore the impacts of decision-making on water resources. Relevant feedback was also given on the improvement needed for the last version of the serious game – that will take place in Autumn 2026 – while the adaptation policies identified were confirmed as crucial for the Nitra River basin.
